The first element of success is the thorough knowledge of all the details of toe business you are engaged in. The third, is to maintain always such relations which your customers that your reliability and desire to deal fairly with them can never be questioned. Such have been the levers used by Jos. P. Watlzer Co. and which have enabled the firm to maintain its name honorably before an appreciative public for nearly a quarter of a century. There is no other business that presents so many opportunities for the dishonest trades to impose on the public as the watch business to the average customer. The interior of a watch is as much a mystery as the gun used by the early settler s was to the Indians. There is however a class of men to whom a good watch is of such daily importance that it has made it an object to investigate its working, and master some of its intricate details. We refer to railroad fraternity, one of the most Important factors of the large business conducted in the country. How to manufacture a watch that would meet all the acquirements of the service that would be sightly, reliable, moderate in price and possess all the qualities to make it popular with railroad men was the question at issue. Reviewing ail the manufacturers, Jos. P.’ Watbier, who has earned the undisputed reputation of being a leading expert on watches, decided some years ago to place an order with the Rockford Watch Company for a watch movement that in his estimation would meet all the requirements of a first class railroad watch. To give individuality to this improved movement, and to establish Its name before the railroad world it was christened No. 19 movement, and to this day is known by that name to all railroaders. That the merits of the watch have been fully realized is proven by the fact that the large contracts made with the Rockford Watch Company have all been completed, and that the watches have given universal satisfaction. Probably no watch has ever met with greater appreciation than this famous No. 49. It possesses all the advantages of a high grade watch, and its price enables every railroad man to become a purchaser. Its case, manufactured by the leading firm in the country, is a marvel of beauty, and bears a guarantee of twenty years for the reliabilty of its wearing qualities. The constant demand, and the increasing number of railroad employes, have induced Jos. P. Wathier Co.to make some valuable improvements in the No. 49 movements, notable amongst which is the adjustment to heat, cold and position, this and other valuable improvements will allow the watch to stand the most searchingexamination reqnired by the service and place it undoubtedly at the head of all rafiroad watches. In view of these facts, the firm has decided to place an order for 500 more of the No. 49 improved movement, and advise all railroad men who are not already provided to avail themselves of the last opportunity. Remember you are not purchasing an unknown article but one that has stood all the tests that could be applied, and that is endorsed by thousands of railroad men all over the country, movement No 49 has become so associated with the name of Jos. P. Wathier lt;fe Co. that the' firm felt justified in asking “What’s in a Name,” and proving that when honorably and justly acquired, it is a hail mark that guarantees quality and assures fair dealing.
