Meagher, who waa a quiet young fellow, but inteiniwrnte of late, intended attending the volunteer*’ supper, and had gone to the hotel where it waa to he hold, and whilst drinking in the bar waa called away ly hi* wife. fie then-preceded her home, about ‘2t»0 yards distant, and arriving first, ho went into the bar parlor, loaded hi* piece, then, taking ofl one of his boots, placed hi* foot Upon the trigger, anil the muzzle of the gun direct for the heart, heath was instantaneous. Tho evidence of tho witnesses proved clearly that tlio de* erased led a vory uncomfortable life, in consequence of the trontmcnt of hi* wife, a woman of dissipated habits.
