The fifth of the five-game series between the Dayton Marcos and the Detroit Stars, entrants in the Na tional League for Colored Players, will be played at Washington Park, this city, Wednesday afternoon at 5p. m. Result of the series is expected to make an important change in the standing of at least one of the contending teams in the league. The Stars will come to Xenia af ter successful games with the Cub ans, Kansas City Stars and Amer ican Giants of Chicago. Manager Mathews of the Marcos declares his team is pitted against the heaviest hitting nine in the league in the present series but the Gem City team expects to make a determined stand and better its position in the league if possible. He has added several new play ers to the Marco lineup who are expected to give a good account of themselves. It will be the second appearance of the Marcos in Xenia this sea son and the second chance for local fans to witness an example of big league colored baseball. Manager Matthews believes pitch ing will prove a big factor in de termining the winner of the series and Wednesday’s contest may be the deciding one. The visitors have a number of stars on their hurling staff includ ing Wilson, the pitching sensation of the team, Bell, Cooper and Mor ris. Bell held the Cubans to two hits Memorial Day and is rated as one of the best in the league. Eith er Bell or Wilson will work the Wednesday game. The Stars have easily shown why they have the reputation as the heaviest sluggers in the league this season. Jeffries, Riggins, Stearns, Blackwell and Kenyon are each said to be particularly danger ous at bat. As a result the Marcos will rely mainly on pitching to hold the De troit outfit in check. An entirely rejuvenated lineup from that which played before in Xenia will take the field Wednes day for the Marcos. Treadwell will ca ywork the last game in the Ox.
