MISS FRANCES NICKAWAThe President of the Conference, the Rev. J. C. Hill, writes:βTo Whom It May Concern: Miss Frances Nickawa is an elocutionist of front rank. For intensity of feeling, facile and natural expression, and dramatic power, I have never heard her equal. At a recital held in the Lindficld School Hall last night, before an audience which filledevery available inch of space, she charmed her hearers with every item of her programme, grave or gay, and left them hungry for more.As a recitalist of American Indian poems she is unique; her picturesque costume, and the wonderful portrayal of the customs, sentiments, and life of her people made the scenes and persons described live before her audience.Miss Nickawa and her companion, Miss Riley, are accredited members of the Methodist Church, and come with the commendation of the General Superintendent of the Methodist Church of Canada, and of leading Methodist ministers and laymen in that country, and also in England.Miss Nickawa prefers to work with the Churchesfor the mutual benefit of both herself and them.We could not find room for all who wanted to hoar her last night, and have already arranged with her for two more recitals in this circuit.I unreservedly commend Miss Nickawa and Miss Riley to our ministers and people.
