CONTRACTS FORTWO WOODEN SHIPSContracts for two wooden ships for French interests have been secured by the Pacific Coast Shipbuilding Company with a site between the Canyon and Garner mills on the river, according to J. H. Hyde who has been putting through 1 the deal.r Charles H. Allger, of Tacoma, is 1 the shipbuilder engaged for the company. Mr. Hyde says he has had some 25 years experience in small boat building and appenticeship with big ship construction. Plans of his r have been accepted by London t Lloyds, says Mr. Hyde, i The ships to be built here will be wooden coal steamers of 3,250 tons, 270 feet overall, 44 feet beam, 24 feet depth and must be ready for delivery early in March at the lat-t ' est.With the survey of the yard, drawing yard plans, and further preliminary work of that sort yet to bedone, Mr. Hyde believes that as soonas that is out of the way work will be started immediately for establishment of the yard and laying of two keels, though it is planned to plan for a 4-way yard.—Wednes-dav’s Tribune.
