The Darlington Journal commenting on Monroe’s water says: Since Monroe water has been de clared unit for use, the brewery there has doubled its output, and drinkers of corn juice trie it straight—Kentuck style. ‘The water supplied to the people of Monroe by the water works lag been declared unfit for use by the state chownish. Viivate wells in the city are worse. Sewerage is what ails them. As Monroe folky want a drink of water that is absolutely pure and peerless, let them come to Darlington, Mr. Wheeler put in the Darlington Water works and the fact that the water is bad cannot be on account of the water works but the water to be obtained.
