The machine in which tho bold adventurers arc alnnit to embark on their perilous journey, and which is appropriately named ** Le Pole Nord/* is now being completed in the Champ de Mars, which tho Government have placed at their disposal for the purpose. This monster balloon, beside which even the famous Grant would seem a mere toy, will contain over iO,(MH) cubic metres of gas, and is composed entirely of a cloth manufactured from caoutchouc, which will allow- of great expansion in the rarefied strata of the atmosphere. The seams uniting the different pieces form a total length of three English miles. The car, a marvel, it is said, of strength and Irrhtness, is constructed to carry ten passengers, 4000 pounds of ballast, anti provisions for a month.
