The following letter from Col. Daniels’ Regiment received by Squire Phelps of this city who has a'son in that Regiment, will be found interesting to many. We are kindly permitted to make extracts from the letter:“ Bloomfield, Stoddard County, Missouri,)June Oth, 1802. 1H. B. Phelps, Esq.,—Dear Sir : I have I the pleasure to inform you that the beautiful flag which you so generously presented to Company “ 0 ” First Wisconsin, Cavalry, now floats over the Court House in this place ou the very staff and halyards used by the rebels to ! flaunt their hateful rag only a few days ago, Be-| lieve me, sir, it is with, proud and grateful hearts that our men. view this magnificent gift,so lately transferred from our own happy Wisconsin floating on the breeze, over a captured town bidding defiance to secession and all who would do it honor.“Your son, by his manly bearing and good eonduet has won the esteem of his officers and fellow-soldlers. It becomes my painful duty at his request to inform you that he is now lying \ very dangerously sick with rheumatic fever which j has settled in one of his legs. He is suffering 1 very excruciating pain. Fears are entertained it may burst open. Should this be the result there would be little hope for him. We hope for the best—we will make him as comfortable as possible—will write soon again. Yours,Lt, HU2F0RD.P. S.—Will you hand the above to Mr Hunt ington for publication if he thinks proper.
