Act Deliberate,Says InvestigatornWASHINGTON, June 12 (AP)—The state department announced today that a preliminary report from the American consul in Pernambuco, Brazil, stated that the United States ship Robin Moor was undoubtedly sunk by a German submarine.The report added that the commander of the submarine was fully aware that the Robin Moor was an American vessel.Sumner Welles, acting secretary of state, made the announcement at his press con-,- —ference.The report of the consul, Walter | J. Linthicum, was based on interview* with the 11 survivors of the j ship which waa sunk on May 21 in j the South Atlantic. Thirty-five persona are missing.Welles read this summarized I version of the consul's report:“The Kohin Moor waa undoubtedly sunk by a German submarine at 6 o'clock Greenwich time on the morning of May 21 at latitude 6 10 north and longitude 25 40 west. The commander of the submarine wan fully aware that the vessel was American. All survivors in good health. Depositions of aurvlvora taken and comprehensive summary will be sent soon as coded.Stephen Early, presidential secretary’. said a full report is expected Monday, hut it might be later. It must be studied by officials here, he said, before a course of action, if any, is set.Welles was grave faced as he appeared before reporters and read the brief statement.He added that the Robin Moor's cargo contained no Implements of war or other military materials Inconsistent with the neutrality act.The genera! cargo, Welles said, consisted of many type* of goods from steel rails to womens hoe iery and including automobiles, automobile parts, radio parte end numerous other items.Wellee said the cargo was consigned to Lorenro Marques, Port Elizabeth, Uapetpwn, Port Natal and East London,OliservanceOf Has Dayt JDue FridayFlag Day, marking th# 164th anniversary of the adoption of the United States colors, will be observed here Friday in ceremonies under the direction of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and In which oth-er organizations are participating.Plans cell for a parade, flag raising ceremonies, an address and music.J. O’Barr, commander for the Ray E Fuller post of the VFW, announced that the parad* would form on the east side of the city auditorium at f 45 p. m. and that there would be a brief dedication of the city's new flag pole there before th« line of march moves westward down Third to Runnels. There It will turn north to E. 2nd and thence west to Main, south to the courthouse square with the line of march splitting to meat with requirements.The Rev. Bill Taggart, who is substituting at the First Baptist church as pastor, will make a brief Flag Day address following the invocation. Retreat will conclude the ceremonies at around 7 45 p. m. The entire ceremony, according to plans developed by the veterans and in cooperation with Boy Scouta and others, will be pitched against a hackdmp of United States flairs in th* hands of VFW.
