Claghorn, chairman of the Troop Committee to visit Camp Claghorn last Saturday. Sixty-five of this number were Boy Scouts. The others were members of the committee and friends of the boys who donated their cars for the trip.Of the latter, J. J. Cabrey, Robert Caldwell, J. W. Ferguson, Andrew Green, E. S. Haws, A. R. j Kneibler, P. J. Newmaker, Frank H. Valette and F. T. Van Aukenhelped a lot by furnishing the transportation for the expedition.Some of the boys were lucky enough to make the start on Friday night, spending the night at the camp. The others joined them on Saturday, leaving the Scout house at 7 o’clock in the morning. The trip was hot, all this part of the world being still under the spell of the great heat. Camp Claghorn, with its beautiful surroundings, its lake and trees, seemed like an oasis in the desert to the dusty travelers reaching it, and it did not take long for all concerned to shed their Scout togs and jump into their bathing suits and then into the cooling waters.And then came the dinner call. Oh! boy, how those Scouts did eat. Chairman Claghorn had prepared sandwiches, baked beans, iced tea and hot coffee for the daddies and they, too, went at it with a will.It was getting next to nature in a good, old-fashioned way. Everyone enjoyed the outing. All have pleasant recollections of a day well spent, far from the heat of the city, its scorching sidewalks and melting streets. None of the boys seemed to regret that they had left theirschoolrooms behind. . Not a manpined over his absence from office or mart.The troopers went via Camden and then through New Jersey.
