What Wes Done at the Seventh Anavel Session in This City. ‘The Gret vension of the seventh annal convention of the Luther League of contral Pennsylvasia was held yesterday after acoe ' to 8. John's English Lutheran church, this ety. Seven years ago the league was or ganized in this city. The first ecinion of the seventh convestion was opened with the mageier eervice of the church conducted by Rev. D. E. Rapley, and Rev. Metter, of Salens, leading in penger. In the shacece of F.G. Keiatts, president of the local lengrer, the address of welcome was deliv ered by Vice President F. E. Schell. Clement Dale, Eng., of Bellefonte, dis trict peemdent, responded to the welcome. So the abesace of the secretary Miss Lizzie Quien wes appointed. A committee of nominations was ap pointed as fellowes: Mra. Rupley, of this itz, Mra. Weikzel, of Revere, and G. C. Hestermes, of Beulevard. Rev. Lasher M. Weickesl opened the die cumien on ‘‘The Ideal Young Propics’ Teotetics. ” At the close of this address the committee nominations reported as fellows, pres ident, Clement Dale, of Bellefonte, vice preatdents, Rev. McCosnell, of Millisberg, and Freak E. Schell, of this city ; recording queretary, Walter Kerlize, of Ceetre Hall; currenpending secretary, L. M. Welckeel, of Reserve; tencnrer, Mus Sara Klass, of Seienn; am anthem by the hheir, and the opening survies conducted by Rev. Aikens, of Pise Grove Mille. Scripture was read and prayer was offered by Rev. Luther W. Conwell, of Midioberg. Dr. Belleway, the speaker of the evse fag, was istredused and discussed ‘The Relation of the League and Other Organi zations to the Church and Pastor. ' He advised the league not to put the church in a casedary pleae, but that the church was devinely instiguted and could not take a cemetery plese. The pastor should al l ware be consulted in all work dose. After the evening service the convention encerned to the lecture room, where a re ception and codel was held. The reese ‘was benetifully arranged with the chairs in commi-circles and parier lamps scattered throughout the rone. An interesting pro gram was sedered, after which all were invited to Rev. Luther McCosecll, of Mislioburg, who said im part that the young people's secre ten were for every young parses, whether they were members of the church or not, not that they should be brought into sevie rces. Rev. McOsneel] was relieved by Rev. Aibens and Dr. Helloway. ‘The repeat of the treasurer, Miss Sere Klese, of Miffiimberg, was read and adopted. Mr. J. E. Lyte and Mr. Hesterman were appointed an auditing committee to exam ine the treasurer's books. Raeports of the different societies of the Giatriet were read they all how 8 marked imevenss to membership, anch all in 2 Geur iching condition, both fiancially and split ‘The convention closed with benediction by Rev. Wolckssl. Leather League Neves. ‘The church—both the levtere roem and the main sediterium—are tastefully decor ated and the occasion promises to be profit able and enjoyable to all. ‘The convention will clam this evening when Rev. Dr. C. W. Hoelsler, prosident of Busgeheuss University will speak. He is a fine speaker and should be heard by all who desire to learn his ideas on ‘Higher Education” which will be his thems.
