NEVADA DEMOCRAT.Tuk Mono Indus Eicitkmknt.—-The report published in our last issue, to the effeot that | three meu had been murdered bj Indians near Mono Lake, turns out to be untrue. It appears the story was started by a man named Fame-worth to shield himself. A dispatch from CJc-| noa, of the 6th inst., says that the expressman j J. N. Parker had arrived there, and tells altogether a different story from what was first re-* ported. The man Farnsworth, it will be remembered, reported that his three partners had been killed and himself badly wounded by Indians. Upon investigation, it appears that Farnsworth bad murdered a man named Hume, from San Francisco, and robbed him of between $700 and $1,200. A party determined to go j out to the reported scene of daughter, and find and bury the bodies. They requested Farnsworth to accompany them, which he refused j upon the ground that ho was too Btverolywounded to ride. They proceeded w ithout him,and fouud the body of Hume, which was badly mutilated, having been shot through the heart, stabbed in the baek and the head cut off. The head was not found. It was only recognised by a ring on one of the fingers. On their return, they examined the person of Farnsworth, aud discovered that he was uot wounded. He was taken into custody, but subsequently escaped. Mr. Parker says the Indians appear to be peaceably inclined, and no fears are uow ; entertained by the whites there of Indian ag-i gression. . ^v ■
