Raves... this is more of a personal little attack on a popular theme in Medicine Hat, considering that on average, we have a rave about every other weekend. As a lot of things these digs, raves are (to a lot of people I know) more of a trend. It just seems that if you’re seen at a rave, you are coincidentally more fly with the kids at school, the opposite sex, etc. Reading in the paper the other day, I read a few arguements against the drug concept in raves. Well, just as every other author of these letters, I have a personal opinion on the drugs. I once went to a rave and didn’t exactly enjoy myself, I felt uncomfortable being of fered nearly every possible ‘hard’ drug out there. No, I don’t do drugs, and have no intentions on it, but I will admit that with my physical appearance, on first hand I'd be judged as a junkie. I have no problem with it as I feel the public’s opinion on myself doesn’t matter. As I was saying, the acquaintances I went with were having a riot with pretty much a ‘drug smorg’. The raves might be fun, but despite what people are say ing, they know there are drugs. I didn’t say all people, but there’s no denying that raves aren't drug-free. And as for ‘unity’ in raves... well, how does that go about? In my point of view, yeah I can see unity between friends. But in the crowd, how much unity is there for real? If you've never been to one, I can honestly say you're missing a let of fights. in summary of raves altogether, kids bouncing around to talentless thump music and (not all) using heavy drugs could not be defined as ‘unity’... but if it is, then tell me, what am I missing? Basically, I’m saying that if you invite me along to a rave, I'm going to have to decline. I don't enjoy the music, the crowd, or the culture that goes along with it. Mind you, I'm not speaking on the be half of all Hat teens, but supposedly I was given a free will, which I’m taking advantage of... Clayton D.
