Lodge Presents ComedyThe play entitled “The Old Maid's Club” given last night by the Royal Neighbor^ at their hall South Main street drew a good sized attendance. Those taking part were Mrs. Thomas Nicholson, Mrs. John Beveridge, Mrs. Liddie j|£lch, Jennie James, Mrs. C. C. Newlin, Mrs.. Pude Hansell, Mrs. Eli Shelby, Lana Collins, Hazen Walraven, Mrs. Cecil Campbell, Maud Adams, Jessie Young, Vern Kibby, Mrs. Thomas Harrison, Edith Strain, Mrs. Cora Dalton, Mrs. George Sarver, Louise Robinson and Thelma Shelby. The Old Maid’s club was an organization which a woman who could not find a husband was invited to join and learn the way to win a man’s heart. During the play those who announced they had prospects of proposals were looked upon with jealousy by the other members who became rather high tempered. At these times Mrs. Thomas Nicholson, president of the club, would order Mrs. Beveridge, secretary, to pass the gum drops to sweeten live tempers and dispositions of the old maids, which brought about good results.
