CINCINNATI. (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds announced Thursday they have signed righthanded pitcher Bruce Ber enyi, their No. 1 selection in the secondary phase of the baseball draft. Berenyi, formerly drafted by the Detroit Tigers, was a strikeout artist at Northeast Missouri State, averaging 12.9 strikeouts per nine innings. . The 21-year-old Sherwood, Ohio, native had a 1.11 earned run average in 65 in nings this spring. . The signing came as the Reds wound up two-day draft, which saw them select 18 pitchers among the 52 free agents. , The Reds have already signed their top two draft choices in the regular phase of draft, Mark King of Owensboro, Ky.and Paul Householder of Northhaven, Conn.
