Joe C. Schallan was born May 16, .881 at Terl Westfalen, Germany and lied at Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge, May 30th, 1931. At the age of one /ear he came with his parents to the Jnited States and resided near Cedar lapids, November 6, 1907 he was mited in marriage to Mary Wagner it Yankton, South Dakota. To this mion were born 9 children, five of vhom are living and at home: Chester, Rose, Lillian, Opaline and ’ ■lugene. The Schallan family movpd0 Havelock in 1911 and have resided lere for 20 years. Mr. Schallan had, blacksmith and machine shop and ^uring the past few years has con-ucted a manufacturing business. He ;as a member of the Independent Or-er of Odd Fellows, Independent Or-er of Muscovites and Modern Wood-len of America. At the last election e was elected mayor of Havelock.He is survived by his widow and ve children, 3 sisters and four rothers, other relatives and a host1 frierds bv whom hty vo missed.
