L. B. Downey Compiles List of Men Serving in Civil War Who Still Reside Here GROWS FROM FORTY-EIGHT Mr. Downey Recently Called For In formation on Veterans And Gets Quick Response. ‘A few chivas sen L. B. Downey, 2 veteran of the Civil war who has alwayseen active in affairs ,con cerning old soldiers, announced that he had the names of forty-etht vet erans of the civil war living in Rush county and asked that persons knowin'g of others not imtpluded in his Wise communicate with him so that the roll would be made secur atte. ~ The names of the farty-eight vets ersna were published in the ‘Repub dican. How well the peoples of the family responded ‘to Mr. Downey's request ’ revealed by the Fact that he now has a list containing the names of eighty-one men, living in Bush county, who served in the war of the sixties. He made public the list today ‘for the benefit of scores of people who will be interested in knowing that there are so many vet ™ arins stiative.
