Seventeen Nappanee Young Men Respond to Uncle Sam's Call for Soldiers.Wednesday, June 5th, National Registration Day, 152 men were .registered at the office of the Goshen draft board by Oswald Martin, clerk of the board. This is a smaller number than would have been required to register had not there been so many voluntary enlistments from this district before the date of registration. The penalty for failure of those to register who have reached the age of twenty-one since last registration, June 5th, 1917, is imprisonment for one year and may result in the loss of valuable rights and privileges and immediate induction into military service. In some cases, a lale registration by an individual is pardonable, 1 provided that it is not postponed too long. The following is the list of registrants from Nappanee:Noble B.
