The Jour• Printers vs. Borov* •. We cheerfully comply with the requestor the Journeymen Printer* of this city; by giving the subjoined an Insertion in our paper, a* it shows conclusively that the infamous Burns was not ilandtr«J by the handbill printed at our offico (without our knowledge or consent, however,) sometime last fall, about which he has endeavored to make such b bug-bear, while endeavoring to defend himself from the counterfeit land warrant charge. The article below was printed at tho Journal Office by the Journeymen printer*, and by them issued in a slip to the public last Saturday, and though Burns ha* since issued an extra denouncing the cripple Robinson a* a11 perjured villain,” we are assured by the printers that they still place implicit reliance in the statements of Robinson.. To Journeymen Pnmcis*(The Editors of the Lafayette Journal and Lafayette Courier, and Editors throughout the West who ore favorable to the exposure of rascality will confer a favor upon the craft by publishing the following, or giving It an editorial notice.)Th±. State ov Indiana, J g Tippecanoe County.?Before me, Timothy Dame, a Justice of the Peace in and tor said county, personally came Harrison L. Robinson, who being by me du* ly sworn, upon his oath, seya, that he has been in the employ of William J. Burrs, Editor and Publisher of the 41 Wabash Allas,” for the last past four months, as a Journeyman printer, in the office of said ‘'Wabash Atlas,7' in il his abor amounted to the sum of over $100 and on wishing to leave the employ of said Burn*, (fearing he would not get his wages, iroro tho inforrnotion he has obtained uf the character of said Burns) ho could not without considerable difficulty obtain a settlement with suici Burns, until he (Burns) anticipated that by a settlement he mighlget him (Robinson) to work again insaid office; ho then settled, but had the audacity to reduco the price of his labor one half, and would only give his note, which on presentation he refused to pay. saying, If you don't work for me 1 will keep rr.y money to pay the next that will,—which said note was by-said Rob.n*orp immediately sxlcA.The said Robison, further nays, that from the most reliable information, and from the treatment of said Burns towards him (llic said Robinson) he believes, that the »uid Burnt., never intends to pay any debt that hrcontract*, if he can possibly prevent its col-lection—that the suid Burns, (io the beet of the knowledge of this affiant) has no property from which a debt may be collected—being under mortgage, except one hundred and «wenty-five dollars which the law exempt* from execution. The said Robinson further says, that fince he has been in the employ of said Bums, he has witnessed his transactions with other hands—and that m nis (Burns) settlement with one He Long, who Had been in his employ, said Burns settled with him upon said DeLong agreeing to nettle with him at about fifty per cent discount—sniJ Dci.ong being lorccd to do so from necessity;and said Robison further states that he believes said Burns had sufficient money in his possession D have satisfied the full amount of said De-tang’s bill against said Burns.H. L. ROBINSON.Subscribed and sworn to before me, till Mb day of June, A. D- 1350.TIMOTHY DAME, [seal.] Justice uflhc Peace. We the undersigned, Journeyman Printers of Lafayette, most cheerfully bear teatiniony to the good moral character and standing of our fcllow-craftsman,,!!. L. Robinson, whnse affidavit appears above, and from our own knowledge of William J. Burns, aside from the statements in the above affidavit, feel ourselves warranted and fully justified in wa n-ing Journeyman Printers nguinst engaging in the employ of 6aid Burns. Mr. Robinson, unfortunately, is crippled in one of his lege, which, perhaps, causes us to louk upon the nuI* rageoutj and dastardly conduct of said Burns with a less degree of allowance than we should were he an able bodied man. Mr. Robinson has been in thcemploy of said Burns upwards of Jniir months, has received hut vlt;*ry little of his wages, and wheg lie would no longer auffier said Burns to swindle him out of his just earnings, said Burns turned him upon the charities of the Printers to obtain money to leave the city ur sacrifice his property to do so.The affidavit of Mr. Robinson is sufficient we presume, without any tiling further from us. It will, perhaps, be necessary to mention, that the undersigned embrace oil the Journeyman Printers eraploved in this city at the present time—composed of all political parties—and therefore cannot be charged by said Burns as a movement for ‘political effect,’ 08 in the counterfeit Land Warrant charge.A V.
