One of seven hundret graduates, he earned the right tlt; wear the Naval Officer’s blue anc gold uniform by completing a four-months course in Seamanship, Navigation, Naval Weapons, Marine Engineering, Operations ant Tactics and Naval Orientation. This is the same course offered NROTC students over a four year period All the graduates are qualified to serve as junior officers aboard any of the Navy’s warships or supporting commands, but most will go to further training in the Navy’s Specialized Training Program prior to reporting for sea duty.Johm P. He is Mr. Nicholas V. D’Angelo, a Geneva resident, who replaces last year’s bandmaster Leland Flora. Mr. Flora left Hobart to go into business for himself. Mr. D Angelo plans to stress. instrumental practice and marching precision in an effort to present the best half-time shows possible.Sixteen freshmen arrived on campus a week early to prepare for the Hobart-Allegheny half-time performance on October 1. They were joined this week by the rest of the band which brings it up to its full strength of 48 members. They will be lead on the field by Drum Major, Ralph Elliot, a six foot-four inch freshman.Last semester hand members elected a new staff to plan band affairs. Heading the .group is President Glen Hilken. He will be assisted by Paul Pratt, Vice-President; John Selch, Recording Secretary and Treasurer; Andy Bodine, Corresponding Secretary, and Michael King, Librarian.
