WASHINGTON. A State Reception Will be Given by the President and Mrs Cleveland on Tuesday Evening Next—No VPlans for a Summer Vacation. Washington, June 10. —A State recep tion will be given by the President and Mrs. Cleveland on Tuesday evening next, to which the Cabinet, the Diplomatic Corps, the Judiciary, the Congress, the officers of the army and navy, the heads of certain beureaus, and the ladies of their families will be invited. ‘The hours of the reception will be from 9 to 11 o'clock. A general re ception, to which the public is invited without cards, will be given on the follow ing Friday evening, June 18, from 9 until 11 o’clock. Mrs. Cleveland will not be home to callers until after the reception. The President yesterday shook hands at his public reception with over four hundred people. He appeared fresh and wore his pleasantest smile. Among the visitors was the St. Vincent De Paul convention now in session here. MKx Senator Tom Grady, of New York, a member of the convention whom Mr. Cleveland, as Governor, asked Mr. John Kelly not to allow to be returned to Albany, and whom, it will be remem bered opposed Mr. Cleveland at 9 Chi cago and afterwards bolted = ‘Tam many and — supported Blaine, was one of the visitors. Mr. Cleveland recog nized him, while Grady shook his hand and withdrew as quickly as possible, Mr. Cleve land’s eye following him until he vanished from sight. The President has as yet formed no plans whatever for a summer vacation. He will remain in Washington attending closely to official duties until after the adjournment of Congress. The President has nominated Corbin Jay Decker, of New Jersey, to be an assistant surgeon in the navy.
