e of ■ 011 :CU-iv assis. the I toniont of her I8U1 birthday, and 011 her ht- elegant present.—There has been some mlsunder* ;ted standing among two of the saloon ea- keepers of our little city. It has had a rs. serious result, too. The affair ended in the horse-whipis prosecuting attorneys and justice courts. The horse-whip was in am- the hands of Ileury Miller. The jostler tice court whs presided over by ’Squire liv- Baker. The parties most intimately ay. concerned were the aforesaid Miller, h- and one Julius Iteuille. Miller had the best of the bargain until the matter«wcame into the J. P.’s hands, an 1 then KeuUle was best. But Iteuille got the benefit of the whip. It occurred at or near the railroad 011 Main street. The cause of action seems to be that Iteuille insulted Miss Lizzie Miller, as the aforesaid Miller verily believes and states. Mr. M. asked the recipient of the whipping to apologize for his conduct, and upon the latter’s refusal to do so he proceeded to give Mr. It. the benefit ot the whip. H. made no resistance, but *tood and took It “like a little man.” They had an audience, too. The audience was composed principally of the female persuasion, the male portion ol the community being slighted, and therefore they did not indulge in the luxury of seeing one of Monroeville’s saloon keepers horse-whipped. After it was over the object of Miller’s anger began to reflect over the affair, and actually began togetinad. The longer lie thought about it, and the farther away Miller got, the more Keuille’s angry passions rose. It finally led him to telegraph for Prosecutor Iletich. But before this the authority of the law and the majesty of the State of Indiana were appealed to, and the said Miller concluded to pay “one dollar and costs” to the J. P. What will come of the whole affair we don’t know, but there is a p08iibiliiy of a suit in court for slander. Tne matter caused considerable fun for the “hoys,” and it will be some time before Mr. R. will hear the last St it.re redice:ou-lave30.1 —y orith’sandthe•eet,pedTheges.E»whomedpie-twocar-off,thethatboutm a and\ 111 the Idioeand a si 1011for c;cner cPoolatteii1 Iintlu fo r 11 age lt;gone per ftFlouCornOats.FlaxChidButtEg3aHideSaltBacoBeefBrioingshorbegiwasl in m;dor siHeal prtendPlacuWPI.
