D. presented to your humble servant and 1st Lieat, K, S. Kerr of the same company, a beautiful sword and belt as a token of their regard and when tne regiment was in line before regimental headquarters,.-the Lieut« Col. C. K.. Pier, presented a splendid' presentation sword to our worthy CsatBintliff, in behalf of tha regiment, which«was acknowledged in a meat and elo* qnenfc speech; after which we marched for the cars which were in waiting.— After seeing the men comfortably arranged we bade farewell to the city of tbs Lakes” and proceeded on our way j to Chicago where we arrived at 9 o’-1 clock same evening. At Chicago we were provided, with an excellent entertainment at the- “Soldieri Rest,” consisting of cold roast beef, pickles, potatoes, excellent bread and butter, with apple sauce and a splendid cup of coffee, lifter doing justice to the above named bill of fare, we were agreeably entertained by the ladies and gentlemen of £ j that noble Institute, with three' excellent gongs, which .-were warmly .gppksud-
