By KEN OHRSTROMNAVSTA Public Affairs StaffThe Senior Enlisted Academy (SEA) Class 131 successfully completed its first 5-mile SEA Heritage Hun around Naval Station Newport on Wednesday, May 23.Approximately 120 students and faculty members took part in the run that started and finished at Tomich Hall on Elliot Avenue. The purpose of the run was to stimulate thought, developappreciation for the historical sites around NAVSTA Newport, promote camaraderie, and allow the class to culminate their Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) as a whole,” said Master Chief (SCW) Mike Dyer, SEA staff member. The SEA Heritage Run is a leisurely run that stopped at historical landmarks throughout the base. Traditionally, SEA students finished their six-week course with the Bristol Trail Run, but because of extenuating circumstances the Bristol run was canceled and the SEA faculty decided to hold its own run on base.In the spirit of the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy’s (MCPON) idea of informing Sailors of the history and traditions of the Navy, the SEA staff decided to add sixstops at certain points of interest along the course whereSEA, Page 20
