The Rev. Lee Stoneking of New York is the evangelist for a ‘‘Deeper ‘Life Crusade now underway at the First United Pentecostal Church, 1321 W. Third St. Rev. Stoneking is a native of Iowa, an ordained minister, has done pastoral and evangelistic work and has been on this particular tour for four years. He said he had searched fervently for the status symbols of worldly success, and achieved some of his goals — as a dancer in a theater, in commercial art, and as a confidential secretary in the business world. But when he was injured in an auto accident, was invited to a Pentecostal Church and was healed in 1963, he found what he was looking for,he said. He later graduated with highest honors from a leading Bible Institute and has engaged in evangelist campaigns throughout the United States. Rev. Stoneking is author of a booklet, “‘The Gifts of the Spirit.” Services are being held at 7:30 nightly through the remainder of this week. The Rev. Michael R. Bingham is church pastor.
