Floated Down the Kantishna by Himself in Small Boat. WOUNDED ACCIDENTALLYWhile Using an Automatic Revolver—Forgot to Press the Spring.Lyman Hastings, a well known hunter and prospector, was brought to the city on the steamer Little Delta this afternoon, suffering from a bullet wound through the leg, and was taken to St. Joseph's hospital*He was picked up at the mouth of the Kantishna, He had floated down the river in a small boat. He had been hunting on the upper reaches of the river and accidentally shot himself. At the time of the accident, he was a booting at ducks with an automatic revolver and forgot to press the spring. As be started to shove it in the holster it discharged and the bullet entered the left leg above the knee on the inside. There was no help near, and he lost considerable blood before he succeeded in getting it bandaged tight enough.He then started on the long journey down the river In a small boat. He suffered great pain, but kept on going until he reached the mouth of the river, where he was picked up by the Little Delta on her way from the Hot Springs.At Xenana, Mrs. White dressed Jhe wound, and Otto F. Kroehle dressed it at Tolovano. Other than this, the limb has received no attention since the accident. The injured man was taken from the boat to the hospital on a stretcher, where he will receive in^ stant attention.
