GertrudeA concelebrated Mass was said -for Sister Miry Gertrude Casonof the Sisters of Mercy on Tues-day, June 6, at Holy CrossChurch.Bron in Charlotte, the daughter of Alphonse Cason and Phebe : Pouquet, she received her education at Holy Cross School andNazareth Academy before she entered the Sisters of Mercy in1923.She taught from 1926 to. 1940at Mt. Carmel, Rochester, St.John’s, Clyde, and S. Anp's, Homell. In 1940, she returned to St. John's to serve as principaland superior of the school. She was transferred to Corning in1951 where-she was principaland superior at St. Vincent's until 1961 jmd principal-at St. Mary's uoflr 1963.Sister Mary Gertrude thenreturned to her home school ofHoly Cross where she taught English until ;1970. She was takenill and remained at Holy Cross Convent until March of this year when she was tl'StlSffifrfiuCourier-JournaJto the Mother House Infirmary.
