Last Friday morning a message from an Omaha hospital announcing the death of John Novotny, cast a shadow of sorrow over this CJtnmuniuy. -The deceased about two months before his death caught a severe cold which developed into brain fever and his condition gradually growing worse he was taken to a hospital in Omaha where it was found out that a tu mor is growing on the left side of his brain which caused intense pain at times, loss of memory, sight and other s.vmptoms, and an operation was performed. However the disease was beyond human control. The remains were shipped home and arrived here Saturday afternoon. Funeral was held Monday morning from the Catholic church of t his place and interred in the cemetery in town. This was one of the saddest funeral witnessed here for a long time and the attendance was one of the largest ever seen here. The sad rites were performed by Righi Rev. Monsignor Bouskaand word-of consolation spoken by him touched the heart of all. The deceased was born in Bun Homm* county June 10, 1880, and was o-ver 8 years of age. In the month of May 1904, he married Miss Anna Kortan and moved on his farm near Geddes. He then moved near Vodnany and then selling bis farm there bought a farm south of town seven years ago. During his life he had been very unfortunate and luck was a-gainst him in his farming ventures and only a year ago he was badly mangled by a gasoline engine. In spite of bis industry, it. seems that everything went againgt him. Be cause of his excellent nature ho was generally liked and held in esteem, and his premature death is mourned by all who were acquaint ed by him. He is survived by bis wife and five children as follows: Adolph 12 years, Mamie 11, Helen 9, Ludmila 5, and Adela 4, one daughter, 5 weeks old died a year ago. He is also survived by bis parents, the Joseph Novotny folks seven brothers Hiid five sisters, all of whom with their families attend ed the funeral. The brothers are: Frank and Joseph who live in Clias Mix county, Alois, Vaclav. Adolph, Eman and Charles who live in the vicinity of Tabor. Th*' sisters are: Mrs. Jos. Valent.a, of near Dante, Mrs. J v M. l’etrik. Mrs. J. W. Hruska, Mrs. J. J Rezac who live in and near Tabor, and Mrs. Anton Reizac of neai Dante
