Two More Citizens of Thai Town Flee From Ils They Have to Those They Know Not Of. Salem is suffering from a sui cidal mania. Less than four weeks ago Ex-Sheriff Craycraft ended his life with a heavy dose of morphine; a shoemaker named Hadabaugh killed himself; a lady made an almost successful at tempt to end her life, and two or three other persons made feeble passes at self-destruction. Monday the craze broke out afresh. Art Owens, a man about 24 years of age, with a family, went out into the woods, on the pretext of hunting, and fired a load of shot into his side. The body was found in the woods after several hours of search. Owens had been under treatment at the Insane Asylum at one time. Oscar Shrum, a Salem brick layer well known there, where he worked on the Willard residence and other buildings, while in Paoli last night took a heavy dose of morphine with suicidal intent. He was alive at 7 o'clock this morning, but there was no hope of his recovery. Shrum was about 26 years of age, and had a family. He drank heavily at times. Until recently he was Town Marshal of Salem. An Interesting Reunion. There occurred at Bedford on Decoration Day « re-union at the home of Austin N. Wilder on South G St. of a few of the sur vivors of Co. D 27th Ind. Vol. Infantry. There were thirteen present and with only one exception they had al] received wounds. Capt. T. J. Box, of Bedford, was wounded five times at Slaughter Mountain and Gettysburg. A. N. Wilder, of Bedford, wounded at Cedar Mountain and Antietam. Capt. T. F. Nugent, of Bed ford, lost a leg at Gettysburg. Alex Callahan, Bedford, wounded at Peach Tree Creek and Atlanta. John Reed, of Shoals, Ind., wounded at Antietam. Elijah White, Abbey Dell,Ind. wounded at Chancellorsville and Antietam. Elihu Clampitt, Heltonville, Ind., captured by the Confeder ates, but not until he had received two severe wounds and killed three of his assailants. Samuel Simpson, Shanswick, Ind. wounded at Resaca. Wm. H. Bryant, Bryantsville, Ind., received a sunstroke while on the battlefield. W. D. Steele, Heltonville, Ind., wounded at Resaca. Silas A. Whitted, Erie Ind., wounded at Cedar Mountain and Antietam. Bruce Carter, Avoca, wounded at Antietam. Dr. 8. J. Johnson, of Martins ville, Ind., Surgeon of the Reg iment, did not receive any wounds, but he saw many days of hard service. The boys all met at Comrade Wilder's where a fine dinner was served by his wife and two, daughters, and everyone present went away feeling that it was good to be there. The next meeting will be held at the home of Capt. T. J. Box. P. B. Lunpy. Mr and Mrs. W. H. Arm strong, after a pleasant visit to relatives in this city left for their home in Elwood, Monday night.
