Willy !flrciknf In HadlsoD couulf.80foisijfrlt;JQI*ccGAgreeably to previous notice, a large portion of the Whigs of Madison county met in the Courthouse, at Dauielsville, bn Saturday, the second day of June, 1849, for the purpose of appointing delegates to represent this county in the approaching Whig Gubernatorial Convention to be held in Mil-ledgevillc on the fourth Monday of this instant; and, also to appoint delegates to meet the Whigs of Oglethorpe county in convention, at the Glades, to nominate a candidate for Senator in the 37th Senatorial district, consisting of Oglethorpe and Madison. • • tThe meeting was organized by calling Col. Gabriel Nash to the. Chair, and the appointment of Walton II. Griffith as Secretary. The object of the meeting having been briefly explained by the Chairman—On motion of Berry M. David, Esq.,Resolved* That a committee of three be appointed by the Chair, to recommend the names of three persons as delegates to said Gubernatorial Convention. Whereupon, John R. Stovall, B. Al. David j o and John.IIopkins were appointed that Committee, ~ who reported the names of Jacob Eberbart, Richardson Hancock and Dr. II. R. J. Long, with the names of Col. A. F. 'Attaway, Samuel Kberhart and John Hopkins as alternates, who were unanimously appointed. .On motion of Capt.
