By JOHN EVERSON “Civic Center of Attention” is the tag that Orland residents soon will be hearing quite a bit. The Orland Park Metropolitan Ex position, Auditorium and Office Building authority voted last week to make that title the operating moni ker for Orland’s new civic center in upcoming fund drives. The group decided on the center of attention theme while discussing possible design styles for cards that the center will use for invitations, publicity, and other uses. “WE'RE TRYING to design one piece that will be used throughout the fund-raising,” said Village Trustee Marilyn Harlan, authority chairman. The cards are being designed by Dora Kutyla of Kutyla Design, who performs publicity work for the vil lage. The authority heard a plan from Ehrsam and Associates, a Chicago based public relations firm for a full fund-raising and public relations push. The plan seeks “to establish the Orland Park civic and performing arts centers as a focal point for civic, community and business activities while helping to ensure success, growth and financial stability.” TO ACCOMPLISH its goals, ac cording to Ehrsam and Associates, the authority must sell the concept of civic ownership to local residents. As a result, other organizations would be encouraged to shoulder fund-raising burdens, leaving the au thority to coordinate civic center ac tivities. Selling the center in this way will require a great deal of media cov erage, the plan states, so the author ity must continuously concern itself with public relations and the media.
