Several from here attended the ball name Saturday. Frank Reed is entertaining his brother for several days. Leon Levy and friend, of Cincinnati, spent Sunday here. William Cook, commissioner, was in Versailles Monday. James Henthorne, of Shelvyville, is visiting relatives here. Ira Nicholas has beautified his resi n with a coat of paint. Mrs. Jas. Woolery is entertaing her agmother, Mrs. Haden. Mrs. Annie Spencer and daughter, “Grace have the mumps. §. W. Benham, of South Dakota, is visiting relatives here. James Spencer made a business trip to Indianapolis Friday. Mary Barricklow spent several days in Dillsborro last week. Rev. Hillstren and wife entertained inrends Monday evening. J. W. Barricklow spent several days last week at Lawrenceburg. Bertie Smith, of Stringtown, spent Sunday with Lida Fleming. De. Delap was the guest of his daugh er, Mrs. Lou Laws, last week. Kid Briddell, of Indianapolis, was ‘visiting relatives here last week. Mrs. Frankel and gon returned home ’after a few weeks’ visit in Cincinnati. Edith King spent last week with her ister, Mrs. Ivor Springer, at Versailles. Warry Parker and family spent Sun day at the home of Warren Cottingham. Lizzie Hehe is spending this week with her sister, Mrs. Drape, of Moores Hill, J. H. Connelley and Henry Colson ‘will attend court at North Vernon this week. Mrs. Mary Campbell has returned home after a week's visit in Ohio county. Mr.and Mrs. Morton Mulford were evisitors at the home of James Downton ‘Sunday. Miss Underwood, of Versailles, was the guest of friends here a few days .Last week, Luther Colson and wife have returned home after several days visit with rela tives here. Druggist Peters was in Cincinnati on business Monday. Mrs. Ed Powell spent Thursday with home folks at Moores Hill. Mrs. Wm. Valentine was the guest of relatives at Moores Hill Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Dunn spent Sunday with Pierceville relatives. Travis Saltmarsh, of Sunman, was in town last Saturday evening. Fred Arkenberg started fires in his brick- kiln Tuesday night. Mr. Strubie, of Cincinnati, was the guest of Bessie Wilson Sunday. Next Saturday night is the business meeting at the Baptist church. Mrs. Ira Nicholas and Alice Bell visited Osgood friends Wednesday. Mrs. Raney, of Holton, spent last with her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Watts. Saidie Underwood, of Canaan,visited Alta Paugh last Saturday,and Sunday. Dr. D. C. Roney and Walter Mulford attended court at North Vernon Mon day. Childrens day will be observed at the Baptist church the fourth Sunday in June. Myrtle Adkins and Luella Koenig attended the ball game at Moores Hill Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Gaust, of Cincinnati, spent last week with friends and rela tives here. Mrs. Edith Hancock and son, Virgil, will spend the summer with Mrs. Dowdaney. The Self Denial Club will meet at the Baptist church Thursday evening at the usual time. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Shockley attended the funeral of Mr. Campfield at Moores Hill Tuesday. There will be regular services at the Baptist church next Sunday morning and evening. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mulford spent Tuesday with Mrs. Mulfords father, at Cold Springs. The Abbot, Thompson Co., are receiving and working up some fine poplar logs this week. Messers. G. L. Laws delivered a new saw mill to a customer on the Big Four R. R. last Monday. George Rosengarn was in town last Saturday on his way to Cincinnati where he has employment. Several from here expect to attend the Baccalaureate sermon at Moores Hill next Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Meads stopped off at Grant Toole’s while en route home after a six weeks’ tour in the west. The plasterers are at work on the new residence of Dr. D. C. Roney, which is to be one of the finest in Milan. We are informed that nine new sub scribers will be added to the Osgood Telephone Exchange this week. The addition to Dr. J. R. Pate’s residence is nearly completed and adds much to the appearance of his property. John Sutton and family have removed to Osgood. Thus, Watts and family will occupy the house vacated by them. Enoch Pendry has returned home s after spending the winter with his grandparents. Quite a number from here attended decoration exercises at Moores Hill “Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cottingham and children spent several days with the ormer’s parents. Carl Austin and a crowd of friends rom Cincinnati, spent Sunday with Airvin Austin and family. The Japanese social at the Universal ist church Saturday night, despite theirclement weather, was a success. Etta Powell and Fanny Wilson, the ‘gmiloyes at the Veneering Mill, are ‘apending their vacation in Indianapolis. Mrs. Lovee, of Iowa, is making an extended visit with her sister, Mrs. Harriett Ruble, and other relatives here. Mrs. Geo. Brewington, accompanied by Mrs. Winfield Bigney, of Moores Hill, were shopping at Aurora last Thursday. Mesdames D. C. Roney, Walter Mul ford, Everett Shockley and Misses Pauline Shockley and Hazel Mulford were in Cincinnati Monday. The friends of Thressa Ellis, who was accidently shot a week ago, will be glad ‘$0 know she has returned home from the hospital very much improved. Mrs. Jennie Dowdney, who left for Pittsburg, Penn, last Tuesday, has returned home accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Hancock, and son. John Francisco and bride spent Sun day evening here with the latter’ parents. They left for their home in ‘Osgood followed by the best wishes of ‘their many friends in Milan, Me¢s+i‘Henry Colson and daughter, Anna, Luthur Colson and wife, Mrs. Melissa Shockley and son, Loren, attended decoration day services at Pleasant Hill and Versailles. The I. O. O. F. inititited several candidates on Tuesday evening. After ceremonies the D. of R. served an elegant banquet. The graduates of Franklin township met Monday evening at the M. E church to make arrangements for the commencement exercises. The commencement exercises will be in the M. E. church here the 18th. The Rev. Robert Brumblay, of Rising Sun, will address the graduates. Geo. Ashmar and R. A. Cregmile, of Osgood, were in town looking after telephone business last Friday. They report business is booming. An agent representing a lecture bureau was in town Monday and Tuesday try ing to sell a lecture course for this fall and winter. He was not successful. Dr. D.C. Roney spent Monday and Tuesday in North Vernon as a wit ness in the case of Christian Trennepohl vs B. O. 8. W.R. RK. Company. The second anniversary of the dedica tion of the Baptist church will be observed the fourth Sunday in June. All friends of the cause are invited to be present. Harry Parker, who has been employed at the Shockley Feed Store, has resigned his position and located at Morgantown, Ind., where he will engage in the butcher business. SPADES. Elia Hahn returned to her Work in Indi anapolis Monday morning, Mrs. Joe Kurtz, of Batesville, was calling in town one day last week, Miss Leora Gunter, of Waldron, is visit ing friends and relatives her Mrs. Schazer and Miss Abrjing are visit ing relatives at Versailles for a few days, Miss Gunter entertained Mr. and Miss Smith and Frank Bauman Sunday evening. Mrs. August Frank and children and Mrs. John Sieg were visiting at Batesville Wed nesday. Mrs. G. Schazer and granddaughter, Daisy, visited relatives at Newpoint last week, Miss Emma Nordlohis visiting the par ents of Geo. White, the young man killed on the railroad about five weeks ago. In Kentucky, Lulu Schmaltz, of this place, and J. H. H. Gander, of Batesville, were joined in holy wedlock last Wednesday at the St.Nicholas church. The bride was dressed in white silk mull and the sister of the groom and Miss Gindling were bridemaids, and brothers of the bride and groom as the groomsmen.
