Deputy Sheriff Gardner, of Attica, is being censured by the people of that village for the escape of Riley, one of the hardware burglars who weieinhis charge. Gardner staid with both men until four o’clock in the morning, and then went home to get some breakfast. Upon his return he found Riley gone, and the only place where it could have been possible for him to have got out, was an aperture over the door about six inches wide. He wasrtracked to the creek where all traces of him were lost.
