Talks continue with PrestwickAnnexation still possibleBy MARY SUE PENNThe Prestwick Homeowners Association plans to continue talks with Matteson officials about the possibility of becoming part of that village The association’s Annexation Committee met with Matteson’s administrator and community development director Thursday to get an idea of “what Matteson sees itself as in the next 20 years,” association President Kevin Egan said Friday.Village Administrator Daniel Du-bruiel said village staff discussed potential development, including an urban design plan for property along Interstate 57.After a general exchange of information, Dubruiel said, “both parties left with the intention of exploring any questions relating to annexation in the future.”He said the village will look into the technical requirements and the financial impact of annexation.The Prestwick committee also hasbeen talking with Richton Park for the past year and a half and has another meeting with Richton Park scheduled for WednesdayIn the past, Prestwick and Frankfort also have talked about linking up The Frankfort mayor said Thursday he is interested in renewing contact with the Prestwick Homeowners Association.The homeowners association represents about 400 of the 430 families who live in the prestigious subdivision on the west side of Harlem Avenue in unincorporated Will County Harlem forms the W’ill-Cook county border.In boundary discussions, Matteson and Frankfort have agreed on Harlem Avenue as a border, excluding the area between the Penn-Central right-of-way and the Elgin Joliet and Eastern railroad tracks — the Prestwick area.Egan said the Prestwick commit-(Please turn to Page A-2)
