Josephine Biach WasLong Active In RanksOf Midland Lodge 732MIDLAND, Pa. — The “Midlanders” C. F. U. Lodge732 was saddened recently for the second time withintwo weeks by the death of oneof its members.Josephine Biach (nee Ma-chovic) died Friday, April 18. 1958. in the Cleveland ClinicIHospital after first having undergone a leg amputation a few weeks earlier.Josephine Biach was of Slovak-Hungarian parents, born in McKees Rocks, Pa., attended schools there, andjoined the Croatian Fraternal Union there in 1931 via theSpirits Lodge 143, for whom she served several terms astreasurer, the same lodge office which she held with theMidlanders for several years prior to the time of her death. The readers will also re-mcmber her as a member ofPittsburgh’s Croatian Day Committee, and also as aZajednicar correspondent.In 1937 she was married toMiller Biach, then and currently the Midlanders financial secretary. The marriage was blessed by two children, George D., 2nd class airman in the U.S.A.F., and a daughter. Joan.Needless to say that the Biachs are all C.F.U. members, even to their daughter-in-law Sharon, proof enough that talk about ).he Societysavored many a meal in the Biach domicile.Also surviving the late Josephine Biach, who was buried in the Beaver Cemetery, Beaver, Pa., on April 22nd, are her father JohnMachovic and a widowedsister, Antoinette Blandiat, both of McKees Rocks, Pa.
