Mrs. Elda Gibbs Simmermeyer of Connersville Charged With Slay ing Her Husband ACCUSED WOMAN HYSTERICAL (By United Press) Connersville, Ind., June 4—Everett Ketchum, chief of police, was the first witness called by the state to day in the trial of Mrs. Elda Gibbs Simmermeyer, 28, charged with the murder of her husband, John J. Sinsnermeyer, 33. Ketchum testified as to the sur roundings in the Simmermeyer home when he was called to the house af ter the shooting. Neighbors of the Simmermeyers were to testifie regarding the do mestic affairs of the couple and Coroner Robert Porter told of — de positions taken from the accused woman while investigating the death of Simmermeyer. The jury for the trial was selected late yesterday. Eight of the mem bers are Connersville business men and four are farmers. Examination of witnesses proceeded slowly today. Hysterically weeping at times and at times staring vacantly at the floor of the court room, Mrs. Sim mermeyer sat throughout the court proceedings. On her lap she held the youngest of her three children.
