A Smoker.In honor of her husband’? birthday Mrs. E. W. Pratt issued invitations to sixteen of Mr. Pratt’s gentlemen friends to p. smoker at their pleasant home last evening. Whist was the entertainment of the evening. The hall and parlors were ela-ixtralely decorated with the National colors. Flowers were also used in great profusion. At the small tables the gentlemen found choice havanas small pipes and a fine array of ‘‘the fragrant weed” so that all who wore so inclined could enjoy themselves in that line. Remarkably good scores were made during the evening Mr. P. E. Robinson and Mr. R. C. Hills carried away the prizes which were long stemmed pipes of choice wood.Refreshments were served ir courses, Misses Verona Pratt and Mable Wilson doing the honors of the dining room After supper, being preceded by the host each gentleman told the jolliest story he could muster for the occassion. Mr. W. M. Carlisle sang a solo which was a parody reflecting upon J. Pierpont Morgan, to the tune “America.” All the gentlemen joined in the chorus and Miss Verona Pratt accompanied on the piano.The evening was a very enjoyable one to all who partook of the hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Pratt and tiie memory of it will be stored away in theii book of Red letter days.
