Wash is not married yet, but he is one of the hubs of the I. A. T. It. It. We would kindly advise him to marry and run the road straight along. Capt. Mann, the regular conductor, is 011 a visit to his family in Georgia; he will return in a short time.Gardner Miller are still here increasing their stock daily and selling at very reduced prices; knowing that competition is great and goods are plenty, money scarce.Miss Maude Brandon is on a visit to her sister, Mrs. J. M. Miller, lrom the Purchase. Will spend two or three weeks.Our town was fairly represented at the Casky reunion last week in compliance with a resolution carried at our fishing party, also in compliance with a request male by our friend W. W. 1 tad ford, who is here looking fully as well as at our last writing, though somewhat, reduced in corpulency on account of a severe attack of facial neuralgia, yet one cannot avoid a feeling of veneration when the eye involuntary falls on his gradually growing gray hairs. We would not leave the impression that age was the cause of this, but deep study and close application.In our travels within the last ten or twelve days, we made the discovery as to the location of Herndon anil were astonished upon entering the place at its well regulated streets, the conveniences, in all respects, very far surpassed our most sanguine ex pec tations. Its line business men, ealeu lated to superinduce and monopolize the trade of the whole surrounding country.The Arm of Jackson, Gossett Major, dealers in dry goods, groceries, seeds of all kinds, tobacco, etc., are doing a very extensive business; all men ot enviable reputationT. I). Wooton, a large liquor dealer retail and wholesale, who is always ready to wait on the thirsty. Dawson, 110 less because last, but fully up to his work on every occasion.Dr. Mathews/) oung and frc s’i fr mi one of the best medical college in the union, has a very bright prospect for a future good practice, also very popular among the young ladies, which adds much to his prospects in another department of his lire.The parties that visited Howell from Ilerndon on a certain Sunday afternoon, who after finding the place could not find anything in it, or anybody, we hope will accept our explanation, that our business houses arc closed on Sunday and our citizens attend church on that day. No doubt the place looked dry to them, but we guess the young ladies who accepted a call that evening felt just a liitle small. We hope the parties will again visit us; we will essay to do belter.
