JOHNSTRANCELThe Upper Peninsula which is blessed with many good men lost one of its few great men with the logging-accident death of John Strancel last Tuesday. Strancel was serving his third term on the Ontonagon County Board of Commissioners, and was active in many civic and political activities. One Ontonagon County farmer, on hearing of Strancel’s death, said, “I’m shocked and saddened by the loss of the only honest politician I ever knew. You could always depend on John Strancel to take the people’s side in any matter. He’ll sure be missed.” That sentiment is shared by hundreds of people who were proud to count themselves friends of John Strancel.
