MokenaDrownsin Yard PoolMOKENA-A plunge into and Officer Harold Pitch thata neighbor's elevated swimming pool was fatal to 4-year-old Kevin Michael Cumbee Tuesday night May 26. Mouth - to - mouth resuscitation and an inhalator wereused in a effort to revive theyoungster but it was useless.He was taken to Silver Crossshe went in the house and upstairs for a few minutes. When she cam down she saw her brother come into the house, dripping wet. He informed her that he and Kevin had jumped into the swimming pool. At about the same time Mrs. LoisHospital, Joliet, where he Mangan, arrived homewas pronounced dead on arrival, a few minutes before 9p.m.Kevin, the son of John E. and Katherine Cumbee,accompanied by a son,Joseph, 14.Joseph, a brother, W illiam,13, and a neighbor boy, Chris Hayden, 11, plunged into the9519 Birch St., was in the pool--it is 24 feet wide, 48 teetyard of a neighbor, Joseph long and four feet deep-andMangan. 9205 Hickory St., brought Kevin out.playing with another 4-year-oki, Rick Mangan.
