tong Beach, Calif —Thursday, June 3, 1948 THE INDEPENDENT Page 13 First annual banquet of the six local chapters of Pi Mu of Cali fornia, national music society, was staged Saturday at the Ma sonic temple. Seventy-five music students and their advisers joined in the Pi Mu pledge and songs, with Janet Lewis Henderson at the piano. Following dinner, at which pink gladioli, carnations and fern graced the long tables, Rob ert C. Walker, regional super visor, installed new officers of the chapter, after which two members from each chapter par ticipated in a program of piano solos. Advisors and presidents of the chapters are Alice S. Durham, advisor, and Charlie Siegrist, Eta; Mrs. Lynn Brown adviser, and Carol Hooley, president, Iota; Margaretta Nelson, adviser, and Mary Jo Yarno, president Xi; Lara Soderstrom, adviser, and Marcia Arnold, president Rho; Helen,Le Baron, adviser, and Donald Jt, president, Tau; and Ethel Mae Phillips, adviser, and Dorothy Hamm, president, Upsilon. Participating in the program were Layton Theobald and Janet Lewis Henderson, pupils of Mrs. Lynn Brown; Janice Mosby and Myrna Mendell, pupils of Mar garetta Nelson; Mary Lee Law rence and Dorothy Hamm, pupils of Ethel Mae Phillips; James Coleman and Mary Jane Ferris, pupils of Alice S. Durham; Mary Louise Hess and Donald Hart, pu pils of Helen Le Baron; and Leonard Brown and Joyce Dunn, pupils of Lura Soderstrom.
