He selected his text from the 33rd chapter of Ezekiel and the 3rd verse.The speaker said, Ezekiel felt called upon to warn the people IV of the evils of their life, He lej was determined not to be a vie- ‘ lim of these evils. He knew he had to face God and he was determined he would not be guilty of the blood of these people.Personally, said the speaker,I am not willing to have the blood of anyone upon my head.1 make the bold assertion that strong drink is a menace to the, po individual and to society. ^Those who sell strong drink are not silent. They advertise ^ in all the leading magazines. There should be a law requiring those who sell strong drink . and advertise it to state thelu„ evils that result from the use. of strong drink. The lives of !i(1 our boys and girls are at stake.We must do something to save them.The following visitors worshipped with us Sunday: Miss Edna Morris, of the city, Miss Gladys Holmes, Supt. of Nurses ^ at the Good Samaritan hospital, Mr. Earl Colston and Mr. ^ Clarence Thompson, of the city,Mr. Howard Kennedy, of Ashe- i-ville, N. C., and Mr. Wm. Lark, 11 v of Boston, Mass.Miss Bernice Drye surprised her father Saturday evening with a birthday party. Quite a few friends were present to wish him many returns of the day.Misses Lucile Barron, Lucile Lindsay, the writer, and Mrs.W. M. McCain are attending the Workers’ Conference which convenes in Winston-Salem this week. Mrs. Amy James of this city is hostess of this conference.Dr. P. W. Russell, of Johnson C. Smith University, was our pulpit guest Sunday evening. arDr. Mitchell preached the bac- ui calaureate sermon to the grad- ot uates of Second Ward High ui School at the City Armory last Sunday afternoon. His subject ai was “Remember,” based on the P* text, “Remember now thy crea- V1 tor in the days of thy youth.’’ st He discussed the subject under “i lour divisions: Remember— T. When, Why, Who and How.
