Twelve or fifteen years ago Mr Thnrsby was in very hard oircoinstances. He bad ron through a small fortune and was reduced to penury, Barefooted, rngg ed and disreputable, he one day received notice that a wea thy relative iu England had died and that, as an heir, there was at his his disposal a considerable sum of money—forty or fifty thousand dollars. “Lord Thereby bought a ranch on th» Mouse river, stocked it with blooded cattle, opened a private bank in Towner, and lived the life of an English gentleman.
