HOUSTON (AP)—Prosecutors said today a boy has so many scars he ‘could not tell about them all in 24 hours.” The state contends the scars on Gregory Chappell, ‘‘are from many beatings’ he has received from his mother, who is on trial charged with disfiguring, Mrs. Annette Chappell, 36, sat beside her husband, Erwin, during the testimony. She stared intently at Gregory several times as he testified. Prosecutors said they will in troduce testimony to support the charge that Gregory's cauli flower ear, bent nose and nu merous scars resulted from beatings. Gregory testified he never told his father about the alleged beatings. “I didn’t tell anyone because I was afraid.’’ he testified. He said he would tell his father ‘‘I fell and hurt myself.” Gregory now lives in a foster home. The Chappell’s seven oth er children are in the custody of the probation department. he
