Old Gen. S. D. Lee Plantation Sold.Mr. G. J. Robertson, of Deer Brook, returned from Chicago, 111., last week, where he purchased from the Hon. Blewett Lee the old home plantation of his father, the late Gen. S. D. Lee, at Cliftonville, Miaa. Mr. Robertson was joined in this purchase by his brother, Mr Jno. M. Robertson, who will takecharge of the active management of the farm.This is one of the most magnificent plantation estates in the south and abounds in the richest alfalfa soil, there being now about 130 acres under hog wire in alfalfa.Aside from its rich lime soil it is a very sightly and picturesque place and should be historically dear to all southern people. Away back in the thirties Col. Tyre Spann came out from South Carolina with a caravan of mules and slaves and settled upon it. Just after the war the late Gen. Lee came into possession of it and moved upon it with his family and took up planting and here he remained until the A. M. college was established about 1876, from where he moved to Starkville and took charge of that college as its first president.The place contains about 1,000 acres directly upon the Brooksville and Louisville road, about 8 miles east of Brooksville.
