From the foot of Dog . Valley hill, the road parses through a succev , sion of beautiful, grassy valleys, on a light * * grade to the summit. The summit Itself is I nothing more than a tint, grassy vale, at the1 *t present tins, however, covered with mow and surrounded by lofty mountain peaks. The trail along which we passed kept by the I hill side a short distance from the road, and it was only by the closest observation that we were enabled to tell when we reached the summit.
