Rev, Robert Cloflin Rusack, bishop of Los Angeles, was held on Thursday at Saint James’ Church, 1325 Monterey Road, South Pasadena. R Bradbury Clark, senior warden and Robert Poindexter, junior warden, presented the new rector to the bishop. The lector was mayor Fletcher H. Swan, and the epistle was read by Professor Silva Lake, professor Emeritus. Department of Religion, Occidental College. Also taking part in the service, as gospler, lilanist and chaplain' U Bishop Gooden, respectively, were the Rev, Alfred Horsey Smith Jr., rector of St. Colum-ba's Parish, Camarillo; the Rev. George 11. Cleiidenin. rector of the Church of the Holy Apostles, Glendale; and, the Rev. Ralph Edwin Parks, vicar of St. George's Church. Los Angeles.Deacons of honor to Bishop Rusuek were the Rev. Richard I.S. Parker, rector of SaintCross Parish, Hermosa Beach, who presented Father Knowles for ordination to the priesthood on March 27.1962. and the Rev. -Cumin durance H.-Parlour, rector emeritus of St. Marks' Parish, Glendale.The choirs of St. James were directed by Mrs. Eva Lloyd, organist and choir director, and l he handbell choir was directed by Ian Mr K tone II, assistant organist.The new rector of St. James is a native of Chicago and grew up in the Midwest. He finished his education in California, attending high school in Whittier and going on to UCLA where lie received a degree in English literature. He graduated with honors and went on to the Episcopal seminary in Berkeley - the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, where he was graduated in 1961.Fal her Knowles serves on the board of Ihe South Pasadena San Marino YMCA and also is the national chaplain of I fie Sons lt;if the Rpvcrfulion. Hr is a bachelor, and his principal hobby is tfie breeding and showing of purebred chows, lie is art active member of the Kennel Club of Pasadena.
