JAMES McSWEENYJames Irvine McSweeny was born Aug. 11, 1895 In Jefferson township, Fayette county, son of Sarah and John McSweeny, He passed away suddenly at his home May 25, 1972.His early years were spent attending Fayette county rural schools and Fayette higfi school. He served in the Army Air Force in World War I.In 1922 he was united in marriage to Grace Kneeland. To then were born Robert, John, Everette, Mrs. John (Kathleen) Slamkowski, and Mrs, Thomas (Rita) Kinsella. One daughter, a brother, a sister and his parents preceded him in death.Surviving him are his wife, five children, and fifteen grandchildren.McSweeny was a member of St. Francis Catholic church, the American Legion, Farm Bureau, and Senior Citizens.The Rev. Richard Kuhn conducted the funeral Mass. Pallbearers were John McFadden, B. Lee Jellings, Everett Sinnott, Ellis Thompson, Harry Corkerv andDon Woods. Internment was in St. Francis cemetery. American Legion members presented the American flag.
