Scout Members Walk Chief Wapello TrailTroop 14, sponsored by the Tr.nlly United Methodist Church, walked the Chief Wfipello Trail of Ottumwa, Iowa, first Scout troop from Missouri to ever walk this trail.The Chief WapelbTrail Isa 25-mlle hike over all kinds of hiking conditions. The Chief Wapello Trail derives its name from the area dnce occjpied by Chief Wepelloand his tribe. Part of the trail is along the De9 Moines River where teepees once clustered beside these ba nks a rai redskins stalked their abundant quarry. The following Boy Sw-uls and adult leaders took part in this campout and hike:Rob Ruble, Stanley Gooch, Jerry Huffman. Jay Green, Dan Jefferies, Scott VanHouten, Kelly Adams, Cris Morgan, David Turner, Hardy Edwards,Mark Mattson, Brian Turner, Eddie James, Ron L*ebeek, Kenton Fox, Craig Haynes, Andy Hils, Kenny Yates,David Bradley, Dennis Kraber, Brian Kissell, Brent Hamm, Richard Tompson, Robert Tompson, Bill Mann, Mike Mann, Steve Hall, Bob Hall, Bill Turner. Howard Hils, Dr. Robert Tompson, Mel Kissell arri Scoutmaster Nell Mam.Boy Scout Troop 14 meets every Tuesday evening at7 p.m. in Trinity United Methodist Church.Troop 14 is sponsored by the Mens Club of this church.Scoutmaster of Troop 14 Neil Mann, says the troop tries to have a camp out every month, whenever possible. On these canuvmh; they sometimes traveltc historic parks such as Pea Ridge, Ark., a*J Chief Wapello Trail in Ottumwa, lowa.^At present there are 38 active members. One cf Die favorite activities of Troop 14 is the one week of summer camp winch they spend at Camp Thun-derbird, 10 miles ncrtheast of Moberly. This annual event will take place June 18- June 25Another highlight Is the float trip for father arri son and takes place on the Current River in Southern Missouri during AugustMany fathers take an active part in Scout meetings as well as on the committees. Some active members arc assistant Scoutmaster, Mel Kissell, chairman; Howard Hils, secretary Roy Ruble, and treasurer Max Lebcck.
