b bb ht ob FE Mrs. Wm. Cleveringa Mrs. Wm. Cleveringa Sr, nee Cleveringa, was born in Holland and came to America at the age of thirteen. She lived near Rock Valley for some time after which she moved to Sioux Center. She was waited in marriage to Wim. Cleveringe in February 18, near Sioux Center. Mr. Cleveringa preceded her in death just ten weeks. Mrs. Cleveringa passed away Saturday, May 20th, at 11:00 p. m. at the Hull hospital at the age of 65 years and one month. She had suffered from diabetes for about sixteen year, and at the time of her death was also suf fering from pneumonia and other complications. ‘She was a manine mother, and loves by all those who knew ‘her. , She leaves to survive eigl¢t children: Mrs. Neal J. Razebaum of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Peter K. Wielengsa of Orange Carr; Fred Oleveringa, of Sioux Center; Mrs. Ed Smeller of Dean; Clarence Cleveringa of Sioux Center; Mrs. Avie Vin Marel of Steen, Minn.; and Wiliam Jr. and Louis Clev eringe at Sioux Center. She also leaves to mourn the following brothers and sisters: Ralph Cleveringa of Roth Water; Mrs. Henry Duistermars and Jake Cleveringe of Orange City, Lou Cleveringa of Alton, Mrs. Dick Winkle of Sherman, D., and Mrs. Arend Watksink of Seretac, Mich. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at Lovelock at the home of Sioux Center and at 1:80 p.m. in the First Reformed church in Stonmx Center. Interment was made in the Sioux Center cane Mr. and Mrs. Albert Slothouber entertained several relatives Mon day afternoon for Robert W. Groot ems M. Jacob, Heemstra, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lubbers, ‘Mrs. Howard Lubbers and baby, Mrs. Albert Kooy and Mrs. Ralph Mouw, Erta Huizengza, RK. N., left early Monday morning aith three other friends for Pasadeona, Calf. Miss Wuizengza has spent the last two weeks with her parents Afr. and Mrs. Steve Huizenga. Mrs. G. Van Hoarsen, Miss Agni Mulder, Mrs. Aenrr The Hinl. Mrs. TH. Schatekamp and Mrs. H. K. De Jorg spent last Wednesday in ‘Sheldon. Mr. and Mrs. Lou Vander Laa went to Sioux City Friday to visit Joan Vander Laan, who is in Str. Joseph’s hospital there. The Rambler's enjoyed a picnic on the Alton golf course Tuesday. Mrs. Barens of Clearfield, Town, spent a few dars at the home of her sister, Arts. B. B. Grossmatt, Mrs. Grossman and Mrs. Lareos left Monday for the former's time. Mrs. Matthew Duren of Inwood is spending 2 few dars at the Mr. and Mrcs. Martin Van Peursem home. Rev. Duren is attending Central College board meeting at Pella, Lowa, Arené Bumger of Chancellor, S. D., and Miss Frances Sethoon of George spent the weekend with Mrs. James Duven. Jeune Rivett of Sioux Citr was on Taki weekend guest of Etta Huizenga, Pfc. and Mrs. Ray Van Pelt left Smodey from Sioux City for Seat tle. Mrs. Fan Pelt wil remain with her husband until he leaves for the Aleuthins. Mrs. Warne Van Citters left Wednesday for Detroit after snod ing a week's visit here. Dorothy Dress and Clara De Kruif returded last ween from South Carolina. Mr. and Airs. Gerri Sloebe left Thursday for on visit with their son, Stanley, at March Field, Cal. yher will also visit with other relatives in California. Mrs.J. C. Glersteen of Sioux City Spent a lst weekend in the home of her father, Mr. C. Hees rs. Mrs. Lambert Hollinga has re turned from Ardmore, Okla, where she had spent some time visiting with her husband. Ava Dykstra left Thursday for Bolland, Mich, where she will visit with her brother, Weerley Dykstra, attending summer school at Hope college. From there she will go to Hawthorne, XN. J., to visit with another brother, Rev, Tyan Dykstra and family. Set Lawrence Van Wyk spent a d-day furlough at the parental H. L. Van Wyk home. He is Sta tioned at St. Bliss, Texas. Dr. and Afrs. A. Bushmer have rented the Mrs. A. De Beyents. Mrs. Anna Van Meeveren and daughter, Mrs. Wn. Vogelaar and daughter spent last week with the Wim. Leemkuil pamily at Little Rock, the Warry dasper. family at Granville, and with her sister. Mr. and Mrs. E. Newenhouse at Sheldon, Rev. J. Schuurman, son of Rev. FEF. Schnarman of Orange City, conducted Services to the First Christian Reformed church Sun day, as Rev. BR. Bronkeman was agreuding 2 synddical committee meeting. Mrs. Vernon Schoep left Tues day for a visit with her husband at Camp Siebert, Alabama. Carol Kleinhesselink of Des Moines spent rest week with her parents, Mrr. and Birs. Jalie Klein hesseluk, Mr. and Mrs. Henry De Ling of Harris Town, called on relatives here Priday. Mrs. John Keyper and daughter, Mrs. Wotrden are leaving for their home at Santa Ana, Calif, this week, Rev. F. B. A Mansen preached in the Central Reformed Church at Sioux Center Sunday. A farewall party was held in the Firki Christian Reformed church Sunday evening for Helri Gesink and John Van Zanten, who have been called into the military service. The Academy Senior class was entertained as dinner in the Dr. Z. Heemstra tome Tuesday eve ning. Mrs .E. Rees and son of Abhton spent Friday afternoon in the Mrs Hubert Muilenburz home. The Grange Cltr Stores were closed Tuesday, Memorial Day, but were open on a Monday evenits. Starting in June 7, the stores will be open every Wednesday evening for the surmmer months. Mrs. Bert Weizer sustained a severe cut on her right and that Friday evening in an auto accudert just north of town. John Vander Laan, who has been suffering from the amputation of one of His toes about a month ago, had to have the rest of his leg fanpotered at Set.Feeeph’s hos pital in Sioux City Monday be cause of infection. tlh Bob Vis, who is home from Italy, will return to the Schick General hospital at Clinton, Town, where he wil teach radio in an occupational therapy course. Mrs.H. Colembrander entertwin ed at 2 shower at her home Tues day evening as a courtesy for Mra Amoli Van Taummel, the former Miss Marjorie Brewer. In conclu sion a r-ecourse luncheon Was Serv ed. There will be a Youth Fellow ship conference at Lake Okoboji June 22-17. The heme wil be “One Faith, One Fellowship.” A family gathering was held last Tuesday evening at the Mr. and Mrs. John G. De Jong home honoring Rev. and Mrs. George Deuwgtra of Holland, Mich, and Jr. and Mrs. Leon Jones of Santa Monica, Calif. Last weekend guests of Grace Bomgaars at Sioux Center were Mathilda Dykstra, Florence Rein stra and Anna Jean Heemstra. Mr and Mrs. Leon Jones of Santa Monica, Calif. arrived here Friday to spend a few weeks visit here in the Mr. Nellie Laymes home and with other relatives in Le Mars, Rev. Henry A. Mowe will occupy the pulpit next Sunday, June 4, at the American Ref. church. The churches of Orange VCity will held no prater service on “D” Der, the day of invasion at 5 p m. in the First Ref. church. This will take precedence over all other services or activities. If the news of Invasion comes on Sunday each congregation will assemble in its own church building. The Junior Mission Guild of the First Ref. church met Wednes day afternoon with the topic, “What the Reformed Church Stands Fort and the reader was Mrs. 4A. Oldenkamp. Hostess was Mrs. John Tatchenburg. The Sixtieth Animal Commence ment of the Inval Junior College and Academy was held at the Local Science Hall at $700 p. m. Monday, May 29. The Junior Ladies Mission So ciety will meet Thursday after noon with the topic, “What the Golden Rule 3 means to Me’, with the Jelder Mrs. ‘Herman De Haan. Blosterszes were Mrs. B. Vander Attrele, Mrs. John Buurman and Rev. Harold Combrauder was the guest speaker. Word was received here of the birdh of a son, Donald, born on a ridar, May 26, to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dale, Verstees ofos Angeles. This is the first child’ of Mr. and Mrs. Verstees. Mrs. N. Ai, and Mrs. James Treneman will entertain at the Schutters at 6:30 dinner Friday evening at their home. Pvt. Lloyd Van Gorp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Van Gorp south of town, arrived from Camp Fan nin, Texas, for a 124iar furlough then spent with relatives and friends here. Alvin Van Otterloo, son of Mr. and Airs. John Van Otterloo, has teen Hi several days, suffering from blood poisonine. Wm. Delieskiger of Missouri Valley spent the weekend here with his family. Bert Bomgaars of Worthington, Ming., was here Mondur for the funeral of Jes Blbemendaal.
